Just when I thought it was about time to get the yard going for spring it started snowing today. I love how pretty it is though so I’ll say yes to snow!
Once the snow is gone it will be a great time to think about what you can do in your yard to spruce things up, especially if you’re thinking about selling your home. The front yard gardens could probably use some raking, trimming and new bark. Think about a hanging basket or two after there is no danger of frost and brush those corner cobwebs away. Be sure your front door is in full sight and the walk way is clear. Driveways and sidewalks always look better when any moss is gone so power washing might be needed. Street appeal and first impressions are so important to buyers as they come up to a home.
Backyards can be simple but keeping them neat and uncluttered are still a good idea. Fences, patios and decks should cleared, cleaned if needed and painted in areas that might need it. Unpainted wood can be called out by appraisers, especially if a buyer is getting an FHA or VA loan. Hot tubs and pools should be checked out to make sure they are in good working order and clean as well.
What can you do to enhance your backyard? Fire pits! They are an easy addition and don’t have to be expensive. Who doesn’t enjoy sitting by a fire in the evening roasting marshmallows or hotdogs. And buyers seem to love them! Be sure to have a nice clear area around the pit and any debris cleared away.
I’m off to see Deklan’s first experience with snow…see you next time by the fire pit!
